Would Haves, Could Haves, and Should Haves

I have now officially moved to Southern California! The housing market is extremely competitive right now! Thank goodness the prices are low because it is at the point where, if you really want the home, you can't play around with your offers; if the house is listed as $500 and you are really interested, then you have to bid like $520... Kind of a bummer because it was way different during the beginning of this year where you could have low balled the offer, but unfortunately we weren't ready to purchase then. My husband always tells me how much he despises the "what ifs" or "could have/should have" statements because they are things that have passed and cannot change. So I try real hard to not make those statement, HOWever, I was looking back at some photos from Northern California and have a few regrets...

About a week before we moved out, we went to Summer's Cottage in Petaluma, CA and I fell in love with this cabinet and rocking chair. Because we hadn't picked out a home yet, I worried I wouldn't find a spot for them. What if the front porch wasn't one you could put a chair on? What if it just didn't go with the look of the home? Usually I go by the philosophy that if I love something, I will find a place for it- but in this case, I was hesitant and not sure why. So, I took some pics and told myself I would go home and think about it. Well, things got pretty busy with the move and all, and I never had the chance to drive back up to Petaluma. I look at these pictures today and, yes Dan, I REGRET not purchasing these when I had the chance!!

I did, however, purchase some little things including an aqua mercury candlestick, a vintage crystal lamp, and an awesome watering can. These were things I felt I could absolutely find a place for and couldn't pass up.
I think I put Dan to good use here haha... what a trooper. The brown plaid thing he is holding is not from Summer's Cottage- it's a doggy seat cover for our car... just in case you were wondering : )

My New Discovery!

My mom was in town visiting this past weekend, so of course we headed over to San Anselmo to do some boutique shopping and stumbled across a store that I just absolutely fell in love with! I couldn't believe I had never heard of it before until I found out it had only been there for about 2 months. The store is called "The French Nest" and has the most fabulous home decor ever! And best of all it was reasonably priced! Here are some pics I snapped to share!

There was SO much more, but I didn't want to offend the lady by taking pictures of every square inch of her store! I am so sad that I had to discover this wonderful store just days before our departure from Northern California! What a shame!
P.S My husband graduated from dental school this weekend!! Yay!
Dan was the class of 08
Salutorian (which means he ranked #2 out of 139 dental students!) What a smart little cookie! So now its back to Southern California we go!!
Just in case you were wondering (because I sure was) the purple sashes are the color of dentistry. Interesting, huh?

I've Been Tagged by Crossroads Cottage!

I was tagged by Crossroads Cottage - I love her blog! Check it out!

Here are the rules:
1. link back to the person who tagged you (see the link above).
2. post these rules on your blog.
3. share six unimportant things about yourself.
4. tag people at the end of your entry.
Let the games begin! Six unimportant things about myself:

1. I despise going to the grocery store! It's always so cold and crowded as well as the inflation of groceries being extremely depressing!

2. I would much rather go antiquing/flea marketing than to the mall! Shhh don't tell my girlfriends! They might think something is wrong with me.

3. I teach piano lessons Monday through Thursday in the afternoons. Yesterday was our annual piano recital!

4. I am somewhat of a germ-a-phobe. Okay, not somewhat, but totally. Purell/Antibacterial handwipes are my constant and trusting companions.

5. The only fast food place I will eat at is In N Out. I really don't like fast food.

6. I absolutely LOVE clocks! There will never be a room in my home without a cute clock!

Now for the fun part! I tag: Tales from an O.C Cottage, Donna Lynn at Blushing Rose Antiques, and Debbie Kay at My Vintage Daydreams... Get to it ladies!

Happy Summer!!

I am SO excited June is here! Can you believe it is basically summer already!? I feel like it was just the 4th of July a few months ago! I just wanted to share some of my new Shabby Addict 4th of July/summer goodies with everyone! Not everything is on the website yet, so if you are interested in any of the items, just email me! I will also be doing a give-away next week, so watch for that! Am I doing a lot of exclamation marks in this post? Sorry, but I just get so excited!! ; )

I am so excited to be starting so many new projects this summer- I can barely contain myself! I have a whole summer "to do" list that I will finally be able to start in the next few weeks. Some of those things include painting and sewing seat covers for my antique cane back chairs, refinishing a cute little nightstand/dresser that I purchased on Craigslist over a month ago, and creating a new headboard for our bed!

I am also looking forward to the July issue of Romantic Home as it will be a special "bed and bath" edition! It will only be sold in the stands so be sure to pick it up! I am hoping it will inspire new ideas for the new home!!
