Jumping the Gun...

I must admit that my favorite holiday is Christmas (along with probably 99% of the population)- but it isn't actually Christmas day itself that makes Christmas so wonderful- it's the entire season.. namely (of course) the Christmas creations and decorating!! Yes, I realize it is only April, but tomorrow is May which means we are one month closer to the Christmas season! Hence, the collecting of pinecones has begun! Who says I can't start celebrating Christmas in April?

This is a picture of my dear adorable husband sharing his pinecone findings with our Basset Hound, Winston.

Let the holidays begin!

Shabby.. or Chic??

The thing I absolutely love about Rachel Ashwell's brilliant term "Shabby Chic" is that it is the perfect, genius, oxymoron. When you walk into her San Francisco store, the left entrance is adorned with the "Chic"- gracefully crisp, bright white decor- the kind of elegance that is almost unliveable. On the right side of the store, we are welcomed with the "Shabby" aspect of the term; the sit back, relax and put your feet up on the coffee table amidst flawlessly beat up armoires, severely distressed buffets, and barnwood picture frames that look like they are hundreds of years old.. you get the idea. On the second floor, the perfect medium is presented. Her bedroom, family room, and kitchen area displays contain tattered wood sistered with elegantly crisp, shiny white paint. It is very apparent in my own home that this is also my happy medium. As I look around at my own place, I notice my taste is so broad when it comes to this style. From salvaged wood chests and beat up frames to a crisp white coffee table and buffet, to a country shabby style pitcher full of roses and a bright white candelabra coupled with a french provincial style white lamp along with sea foam green untouched vintage bedroom furniture... I guess I would happen to fall under the "upstairs shopper" category at the San Francisco Shabby Chic store. Who knew!?

My Dream Settee

I have been dreaming of a settee for some time now but have yet to find one (under $1000) that is my ideal settee! There was one on eBay a while ago that I was ready to throw bids down on, but after doing the research, I came to the realization that giving this settee a makeover would cost several hundreds of dollars. Does anyone have any tips for a cheap settee makeover? Is my guestimated cost far fetched or is it about what it would cost? The ones pictured are something of my "dream settee"..nothing too fancy, just a basic muslin cover.. someday I will have my dream settee!!

Spring Prints

I am working today on listing these new prints on the website... listing products is so time consuming! But I have to admit, I kind of enjoy it... KIND of... I have absolutely fallen in love with these pictures because they just make me feel like Spring! I used to be a "summer lovin" kind of girl (probably because I grew up in Southern California) but I have slowly converted over to loving spring even more than summer. Summer may offer vacations but Spring offers vibrant and fresh colors, crisp warm weather, birth of new flowers, gardens, and fabulous spring decorating for cryin' out loud!

Good Ol' Old Town

Isn't this little lamp adorable? I thought it would go perfectly on top of the buffet I just painted! My husband poked at the fact that I called it "milk glass". Of course, us Shabby Women all know the correct term for this type of glass, but apparently to a dentist it is gibberish. So I just told him that I think flossing is gibberish. I think that got him. The frame next to it was another project I just finished. It's listed for sale on shabbyaddict.com!

Another project I just finished this week. Also for sale on my website! I debated keeping it, but I just have too many jewelry boxes already!

Buffet Bonanza!

I found this buffet on Craigslist and couldn't resist! Could you resist a $28 buffet? Yes, $28! Not $30, but $28... kind of a strange price on Craigslist, but who's complaining! My husband and I are moving back to Southern California in June and will be house shopping soon, so I am just getting a head-start on the collecting! I can't decide exactly what shabby theme I am going to use in my new house, but I have several photos I have been collecting along the way to give me ideas. I LOVE design! Especially when I get to start from scratch! I can barely contain myself! That's one more thing to check off my "items I need for my new home" wishlist! Buffet? Check!!

Welcome to Me!!

I just wanted to welcome my new "Shabby" Blog to the big bad blog world! This is my attempt at collecting all my thoughts, favorite pictures, projects, products I am selling, ideas, questions.. well, basically my shabby journal for the whole blog world to see! Please do leave comments as I would love to hear from you! Here's to shabby blogging!
