My Dream Settee

I have been dreaming of a settee for some time now but have yet to find one (under $1000) that is my ideal settee! There was one on eBay a while ago that I was ready to throw bids down on, but after doing the research, I came to the realization that giving this settee a makeover would cost several hundreds of dollars. Does anyone have any tips for a cheap settee makeover? Is my guestimated cost far fetched or is it about what it would cost? The ones pictured are something of my "dream settee"..nothing too fancy, just a basic muslin cover.. someday I will have my dream settee!!

Hi there,
Hey Victoria and I saw on just like this, no kidding, in our local antique mall here for $425.00
it would be perfect with the frame painted and recovered...keep checking your local Goodwill, Salvation Army, St. Vincent DePaul and local antiques malls. You never know when one will show up from someones house! Love your blog, Donna Lynn

Hi there, Thank you for commenting on my blog. The dates for the Ventura flea market vary, however, there is going to be one this Sunday!! If you go to the R.G. Canning website, they post the show dates.

This setee is gorgeous by the way!

That settee is gorgeous! I agree with Donna Lynn, check at consignment stores and thrift stores. Also, I took upholstery classes at a local fabric store - I don't know if this is something you are interested in but I love taking old furniture and making it look fabulous! My father and I redid a settee a couple of years ago and it was all tuffeted on the back, I must say it was a bunch of work. But you could start with something simple like an ottoman. Also, there are some really good upholstery books too. Otherwise, ask around for a good reasonable upholsterer. Good luck on your hunt. Blessings, Victoria Lynn

I found a beautiful vintage settee on craigslist for $125 a couple weeks ago. I wish I knew you were looking for one because I'm in the South Bay area of SF. It was gold but could easily be repainted and reupholstered. I really wanted it but it was over 6' long and I didn't have room for it!

I always go to Craigslist under "furniture" and do a search for "french". That's how I found it!

I am posting a French style settee that needs refinishing but has great bones! I'm posting to craigslist and can send pics to anyone intersted. I just don't have time for the project. email me at latierramedia@comcast.net or check craigslist under french settee in Petaluma, California
