Befores and Afters!

Wow! I haven't been able to get much done around the house with this whole election and all of the campaigning for different propositions (namely Prop 8) here in California- it's been a wild ride! I don't really like to talk politics on my "Shabby Addict" blog, but it has been the majority of where my time has been spent- campaigning, making phone calls, sign waving, and the works... needless to say some things turned out how I was hoping, where others did not. I guess we can't always have everything, right?
BUT I have been able to get a few things done around the house.. First off, these nasty little hanging lamps above the kitchen table (what were they thinking?)- they are so 80's! They almost look tye-dyed!
Well, with a little bit of paint and lace, I was temporarily able to take care of the tye-dyeness until I pick out a chandelier I would like to replace these with!

And it looked as if whoever picked out the tye-dye lamps also picked out the header for the blinds...
Isn't it hideous? It's the only "before" pic I had so you may not be able to tell, but it is most definitely a "tye-dye" looking blue speckled header... until I got my shabby little hands on it!

And then last but not least, my mom was kind enough to give me an old plate rack of hers, so I set er' up with a few of my favorite plates!

Now it's my turn to go and catch up on everyone's blogs!! See you a in a bit!

Oh' fantastic makeovers. The header is probably my favorite, though I like them all. I don't know what the heck the 80's was thinking when it came to design style. Somewhere someone missed up terribly. I remember when everything was country blue with wood cut out ducks. ewwwwww'

Love what you've done with the lamp shades and especially the blinds header. The decals are great and add the perfect shabby chic touch. Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of your new place. :)

What a delightful blog you have! I love it and will add you to my favorites! Isn't Old Town Temecula wonderful?! I just live 10 minutes from there! Anyhoo, I love how you have taken old treasures and made them beautiful! You have talent. I have wanted to paint white several pieces of my furniture! I am getting braver! I think we might have worked on the same side on Prop 8. All of our family memembers did in CA.

Will be visiting often!
Hugs,
Maryjane

Terrific transformations! The shades and the header look wonderful now! I also love the plate holder and plates. I have a passion for porcelain plates!

Love the de Longpre picture! I have that same one for my living room.

Clever idea. I never thought helping my wife in redesigning our kitchen can be a lot of fun. The chandelier we have bought is bigger than those, though. We already called an electrician in Minneapolis to fix the wiring of our ceiling. I like that color. Just simple.
